‘Siro’ means Head and   ‘Dhara’ means the steady and continues flow of liquid. The liquid can be some herbal oils or some medicated milk, medicated butter milk etc.
In this process any of the above mentioned liquid is taken ( according to the need of the person ) and being poured on the forehead in a special method for about 40 minutes to 45 minutes in a day for a period of 5 to 21 days as per the condition of the patient.

Indication :- This treatment is very useful in Insomnia (Loss of sleep ) , Loss of memory , poor concentration , Chronic headaches , Stress , Depression  , mental tension and also in certain Skin diseases.

This treatment has shown great results in case of sinusitis and under eye dark circles also.

If we are taking the medicated butter milk for this process then this is very helpful in High Blood Pressure as it reduces the blood pressure very rapidly. So if we take Medicated Buttermilk then this process is called as Takra dhara.

Pizhichill is one of the special and rare treatments of Ayurveda. In this treatments , lukewarm medicated oils are poured all over the body by two or four Ayurvedic therapist in a special rhythmic way, and continuously for about 45 minutes to 60 minutes per day for a period of 5 to 21 days. This Treatment is also called as oil bath in laymans language.

This treatment is done over a special table made from particular wood.
 
Indication: - This treatment is very beneficial in Rheumatic Diseases like Arthritis, paralysis, Hemiplegia, Paralysis –Agitanus, Sexual weakness ,Nervous weakness , Muscular dystrophy etc.

After this treatment the patient if fully reejuvenated and completely relaxed thus also very good in depression, stress, spasm and respiratory problems also.

This is a type of special treatment in which whole body or even a specific part of the body is being rubbed in a specific manner with the application made from certain medicinal puddings externally in the form of boluses tied up in muslin bag. This is applied for about 45 min. to 60 minutes  per day for a period of 7 to 21 days by two or four Ayurvedic therapist.

Indications:- This treatment is for all type of rheumatism, pain in the joints, emaciation of limbs, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and certain kinds of muscular diseases.

Abhyangam is one of the most famous Ayurvedic massage .This is special type of oil massage in which strokes are given according to the circulatory channels for about 45 minutes per day for a period of 7 to 14 days. In this different types of oils are being used according to the need of the patient.

Indications:- This treatment is very useful in Poor blood circulation, loss of skin luster, sleeplessness, fatigue, osteoarthritis , tones up the muscles, muscular cramps and so many other problems also.

Udavartanam is also called as dry Powder Massage. This is found very effective in obesity. In this process certain specials herbal powder are taken, heated slightly and then being used to massage the whole body , specially in certain areas where fat deposition are more . This procedure take around 45 to 60 minutes par day for a time period of 14 to 28 days and being done by two or four therapist.

Shiro means Head and vasti means a tank or a reservoir. In this treatment certain lukewarm herbal oils are poured into a cap fitted on the head and held for 15 to 60 minutes per day according to the condition of the patient and for a period of 7 to 10 days.

Indication: - This Treatment is very effective for facial paralysis, dryness of nostrils, mouth and throat, severe headaches and many other diseases of head.

Swedanam means medicated steam bath.

In this treatment certain precious herbal leaves and herbs are boiled and the steam is passed to the whole body for about 10 to 20 minutes. In this the person is either being made to sit or lay down in the specific chamber made form wood or then the steam is passed in that chamber.

In this treatment specific powders made from specific herbs are made in boluses form and are tied in a muslin cloth and made small potlis .Then these are heated over mild fire dipped in specific oil. Then these warm potlis are applied all over the body or over a specific part of the body for 45 min. to 60 minutes per day for a period of 7 to 14 days by two therapists.

Indications:- This treatment is very useful in osteo arthritis , spondylosis ,any muscular cramps , sport injury Etc 

This is a also a very effective treatment in Ayurveda. Here Kati means lower back region and vasti means tank made from certain herbal paste.

In this process specially prepared warm medicated oil is kept over the lower back with herbal paste boundary. This treatment last for 40 minutes to 50 minutes per day for period of 7 to 14 days.

This is similar type of treatment like Kati vasthi. Here Janu means Knee and Vasti means Tank or container made from herbal paste.

In this also specific warm medicated oil is being filled in the tank or container made from herbal paste over the knee joint. Then the oil is changed from time to time as it should warm. This process also takes 40 to 50 minutes per day for a period of 7 to 14 days.

Again like kati vasthi and janu vasti the whole process is same, except here the place will be the chest region. Here Uro means Chest. Vasti tank made from the medicated herbal paste.

So in this process the tank is made over the chest region and is being filled with medicated warm oil for about 45 minutes.

Dhoopanam means medicated fumes. This is the treatment or process in which medicated fumes are being exposed to the ear for about 5 to 10 minutes . The patient is being made to sit in a chair and asked to relax and then the medicated fumes are exposed to the ear region.

This treatment can also being called as face care treatment.

Here Ksheera means milk and dhooma means fumes.

This is a special procedure in which a mixture of medicinal decoction and cows milk is heated and the steam thus liberated is passed to a tube and applied over the affected area or whole body.

Indications:- This treatment is found very effective for Facial paralysis ,speech disorders ,ptosis and various other nervous disorders .

In this process various medicinal herbs are selected according to the dosha predominant or as per the patient and is made into a paste and then applied to the scalp for about 30 to 45 minutes. 

Again Vasthi is one of the Main Panchkarma Treatments. Vasthi means Enema.
Basically we can divide the vasthi  into two types:-

- One is Sneha Vasthi  means Medicated oil enema 
- The other one is Kashya Vasthi means  Enema of decoction made from mixing certain herbal juices and other things also.

In this process either the oil only or the medicated herbal oils ,herbal extracts ect., are passed through the rectum daily for 5 to 32 days depending on the condition of the patient.

This is a therapeutic procedure which is strictly done under the supervision of the doctor and being performed by a trained therapist.

Indication:- This treatment is highly beneficial in many number of diseases like arthritis ,paralysis ,hemiplegia ,numbness ,gastric complaints ,rheumatism ,chronic constipation etc.

In this procedure special powder is mixed with medicated oil and is applied on the top of the head for 20 to 45 minutes.

In this process warm herbal liquid is poured all over he body in a rhythmicmanner using a special vessel. This treatment is done for 45 min. to 60 minutes per day for about 7 to 21 days by two therapist.

This is a specific treatment for females .In this treatment certain herbal oils and decoctions are applied through the vaginal route.

This treatment is good for Gynaecological disorders. It is also a purification process for genital organs.

These  Panchkarma treatments are body purification treatments or we can say detoxicification treatments which eliminates the toxins out of the body and thus cure the diseases and at the same time act as an Reejuvenation therapy.
